I’ve been doing hair for over 30 years, but honestly, my journey started way before I had a license in my hand. I was about 10 years old when I started doing hair, and my older sister became my very first client. Thirty years later, she’s still in my chair. Some things just age well.

I’ve always loved hair. As a little girl, I loved going to the salon. The smell of relaxers, color processing, hot combs, and burnt hair didn’t scare me—it felt like home. Most people walked in for a hairstyle. I was fascinated by the transformation, the creativity, and the confidence that walked out the door.

Life, however, had other plans for me.

Twelve years ago, my husband passed away on the very day I became eight months pregnant with our son. Becoming a widow before becoming a mother was the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced. It changed my life forever. One day I was planning a future with my husband, and the next I was trying to figure out how to survive while preparing to bring a child into the world.

I was shattered. I was lost. And there were moments when I wasn’t sure who I was anymore.

But one thing about me—I’m stubborn in the best way possible. Taurus energy. If life knocks me down, I might sit there for a minute, maybe cry a little, maybe question everything, but eventually I’m getting back up.

Hair became part of my healing.

Over the years, I’ve worked in private salons, suite environments, and franchise salons including Sports Clips, Great Clips, and Supercuts. Some of those experiences happened before my son was born, some during my marriage, and some after I relocated to Las Vegas. Through every season of life, I never stopped dreaming about having a space of my own.

That dream eventually became The Thairapy Suite.

As a cosmetologist, I’m skilled in barbering, color, natural hair care, and a variety of hair services. But at some point, I made an executive decision. I decided to focus on what I genuinely love doing.

And no, it wasn’t weaves.

Nothing against them, they’re just not my thing.

My heart has always been in natural hair care, healthy hair restoration, loc maintenance, loc repair, loc reconstruction, and loc restoration. I love helping people save the hair they thought was beyond saving. There’s something incredibly rewarding about restoring confidence one strand at a time.

What makes The Thairapy Suite different is that almost everything you see has come directly from my imagination. I’ve always been a creator. The concepts, the experiences, the branding, the vision—it’s authentically me. I don’t spend much time trying to be like everyone else. That sounds exhausting.

My clients know they’re getting honesty when they sit in my chair. They’ll get expertise, healthy hair education, a few laughs, probably some sarcasm, and a safe space where they can simply be themselves. Hair appointments aren’t just about hair around here. Sometimes they’re therapy sessions that happen to include steam treatments and loc repair.

Most importantly, my faith keeps me grounded. My relationship with God has carried me through grief, motherhood, entrepreneurship, and every challenge in between. It continues to give me the wisdom, strength, and direction I need to keep moving forward.

Today, The Thairapy Suite is more than a salon suite. It’s a reflection of resilience, restoration, creativity, and purpose.

And if you’ve made it this far, just know this: I genuinely love what I do. Thirty years later, I’m still passionate about healthy hair, strong locs, authentic connections, and helping people leave my chair feeling better than when they arrived.
